Spring is the season reviving the nature as well as people’s spirits. Blossoming trees, green dressing up all corners, even the cities and the freshness of the air swirling in the scent of flowers are sensations bring everyone that extra energy. And to properly enjoy nature’s beauty, on the brink of spring, at Art & Craft, we recommend you a few spots in Romania, just right to be visited in the season of flowers.
1. Lake Izvorul Muntelui, Neamt County
Since water frames up perfectly with the green nature, and the lakes cut in the mountains and plains, so mystically, we recommend you a small trip to Bicaz Dam, up to the villages laid down along the lake, to enjoy a bit of authenticity.
Did you know, that Bicaz Lake, with a starting point at Bicaz town, has a surface of32.6 km² and was created after having built the dam on Bicaz, between 1950s and 1960s?
Besides the already known beauty of the lake that changes colour depending on the temperature and depth of the water – from emerald green to crystal blue – the landscape is charming also due to the green nature, in the shade of the Ceahlau massive.
Another interesting aspect of Bicaz Lake, also known as Izvorul Muntelui, is the fact that the valley where it lies is on the road that Vitoria Lipan takes when going on the quest for her husband, as mentioned in the novel “Baltagul”, written by Mihail Sadoveanu.
Now there, there are no more villages due to building the dam, but those still in place hide rustic stories and exceptional views making us go down on memory lane. For the nostalgic, this is the perfect choice!
2. Lake Tarnita, Cluj Napoca County
Located a few kilometres from Cluj Napoca, Lake Tarnita is situated next to Gilau resort and has a surface of approximately 215 ha, in length of over 8km. it is one of the most appreciated tourist areas in Cluj.
Here, the most frequent activities in spring are fishing and boat riding, activities that perfectly round up the peacefulness induced by the emerald green of the tree-covered hills and the crystallin colour of the lake.
If you are prepared with the right clothing and adrenaline, we invite you on a rather long route, of 18 km, that is recommended even to those with a medium physical shape, up to Piatra lui Lucaci. At destination, we guarantee a view that will take your breath, and worth the effort made!
3. Poiana Narciselor, Dumbrava Vadului, Brasov County
It takes more than one flower to bring around spring, but a visit to Poiana Narciselor, surely will! So, the last destination we recommend you to visit is Poiana Narciselor, located in Brasov County,Sercaiatownship,on the territory ofVadvillage.
The entire valley at Dumbrava Vadului is covered in a true carpet of narcissus surprising your eyes as well as your nose with their delightful scent. The place is a national interest nature reservation, made up of an oak forest and narcissus clearings.
If you are in search of authentic rural experiences, it is good to remember that every year, on May 21st, on the celebration of Saints Constantin and Elena, the clearing hosts the Narcisus Festival, an ethnological and folk festival, accompanied by a great field celebration held by the villagers in the area.
We hope to have inspired you with our suggestions and that you will enjoy your holidays loaded with beauty!☺
